Lynnette Joselly and I met via social media. Instagram to be exact. Which speaks volumes to her branding and networking skills.  She is a Social Media Specialist, Graphic Designer, and Brand Ambassador from Miami. She loves to share her obsessions which include fashion, technology, and events with her readers. Oh, and she also has her own business.

Epifania: You have gorgeous curly healthy hair. How and why did you start Bella Kurls?
Lynnette Joselly: Well my nationality is Dominican and I have this thick curly hair that unfortunately takes forever to grow out. I wanted some length when I styled my hair and even went to a hairstylist to get a professional installment of hair extensions. However that was pricey, I’m talking about some rent money. So I wanted some instant length and wasn’t able to find any clipin hair extensions for curly-haired girls. This is when I decided to fill in that gap and create BellaKurls clipin curly hair extensions for all the ladies who want to rock their natural hair. And since there are so many different kinds of curls I want to cater to them all. As of right now, we have kinky, curly, afro, and wavy! We sell online at www.BellaKurls.com and we ship worldwide.

E: With all your roles in event coordination, and fashion blogging, you have to build up a strong brand. How did you build up your brand?
LJ: Building a brand is a full-time job and always going to be a work in progress. Come up with creative content that you are proud of and believe your followers will enjoy and benefit from. Setting a schedule to take photos and set posting dates to be more organized. Pushing your content out there mainly through social media. And at the end of the day, if it’s something worth looking at, people will follow and support you.

E: We met via social media. Which shows the power of your brand. What tips do you have for other bloggers?
LJ: The best advice I can give to other bloggers is network network network. You should have a business card with your blog information on it and have it with you at all times because honestly you never know who you are going to meet. Also if you are looking to make money off your blog, I would recommend you meet with different PR agencies that way when they have an upcoming project you can collaborate with a brand they are representing.

E: Why do write about fashion? What drove you to it?
LJ: I write about fashion because it’s what I am obsessed with. I love shopping, I mean what girl doesn’t, but it’s also the art of putting an outfit together. Mixing prints, colors, and fabrics, I just love expressing myself through clothing. I started my fashion blog after my first job, working at Forever 21. I was able to discover my style.  I was, already tech savvy and knew how to create websites I figured it would be a good idea to just go ahead and start a blog. To share what I love most, fashion and beauty.

E: There is a difference between fashion and style. Describe your style and what you think of it.
LJ: My style is always changing, it all depends on my mood and where I am going. But I would best describe it as girly. I love skirts and floral prints and I am practically always in heels. I am all about dressing sexy, ladylike, sophisticated, you know?

E: Oh, I love me some dresses too! What are your favorite fall fashion items?
LJ: My favorite fall items will have to be combat boots and wool fedora hats. The boots are very comfortable and can go with many different outfits. As for the hat, they are the best accessory to complete your fall outfit. I would recommend getting them in autumn colors such as burgundy, beige, and grey, and of course, black is always safe.

E: I love the fact that you are lending your voice to the Purple Purse campaign. Why is it important to you to be a part of it?
LJ: It was important for me to be a part of AllState’s Purple Purse campaign because I wanted to raise awareness for those experiencing domestic violence and financial abuse. It’s very important that we motivate others to speak up and put an end to the abuse because no one deserves to be treated with disrespect. Domestic violence does not only include physical abuse but also financial abuse where the victim is trapped for financial reasons such as bad credit, no job, and little to no income. And since a purse represents a woman’s financial domain this campaign was created to help raise awareness and inspire women to speak up and reclaim their power and control in abusive relationships.
