Are Magnetic Lashes Worth It By: Adria Craig

Covid-19 has shaken ourselves, our communities, and our homes. However, one thing we can all agree on, is we all miss our eyelash extensions. Wait? Is that just me? Look, I miss waking up every morning and looking put together without any effort.

Since estheticians are considered not essential I had to take a break from them. Have I been wearing makeup lately – no, I am not insane. However, there are moments where I still want to feel put together even if I have a little makeup on. In a moment of weakness, I caved and decided to try the new craze of magnetic eyelashes. I order them off of Amazon and I chose to not purchase the expensive ones. The set I got came with the magnetic eyeliner, three sets of lashes, and an eyelash tweezer for application.

First Time & Second Time:

I tried the set with just the eyeliner from the package, no other eyeliner underneath. You have to shake the liner first. I put two layers on. I will say it was difficult putting on the liner trying not to get it on my regular lashes. The first time I got three liners on my lashes and the magnetic lashes were getting caught on my actual lashes. For my second time, I held down my lashes while putting the liner on and that helped.

Third Time:

I decided to put a full face of makeup on. I put my regular eyeliner on first and mascara so the lashes blend better. I put the magnetic eyeliner on top of my eyeliner. I did two layers. Now when putting on the lashes you have to make sure you’re precise on where you put them the first time. That is a downfall if you’re not good at putting lashes on. Once they are on, if you try and move them it takes the liner with the lashes so then you have to start all over.

Conclusion:

I would probably not use these lashes again. Yes, they look good but it’s definitely a pain. If you don’t place them in the right place the first time, you have to start all over. Especially if your eye makeup is the bomb and you have to redo it. Another downfall of these lashes is your inner corner and outer corner of your eyes over time, the lashes in these areas tend to separate. I don’t plan on carrying around my eyeliner to do touch-ups throughout the day. For the time being, these lashes will do especially if all you are wearing them for is a virtual dinner date. However, once I can have my eyelash extensions again, I will.
