How To Celebrate Screen Free Week

National Screen-Free Week is May 2-8, 2022. That’s right, we have become so addicted to screens we need to have a national screen-free week.

According to a report by the New York-based agency, the average Internet user aged 16 to 64 spends six hours and 58 minutes online per day, across all the devices. So it may seem impossible to step away from screens. I mean we take our phones everywhere with us. From our bedrooms to our bathrooms, our devices are with us all the time. However, there are plenty of things to do away from our screens.

We asked our Epifania Team how they spend their time away from the screen.

“Reading a book, yoga, walking, running, talking 😅 (in person), hiking (you can use print maps), or cooking (recipes in cookbooks),” – Paloma Lenz, Newsletter Manager.

Our Copy Editor, Rose Heredia agrees with Paloma but has her own list.

“Writing, collage making, organizing my home, painting, exploring my neighborhood, dancing (CD player stereo), meditation, sudoku, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, music concert, bowling, solitaire or cards with friends, board games with friends, ice cream and of course visiting bookstores,” – Rose Heredia, Copy Editor.

Our other Copy Editor Guilliean Pacheco keeps it simple.

“One of my favorite activities is taking my dog Jack for walks. I make it a point to leave my phone at home, or tucked away in my pocket so that I’m fully present with him,” – Guilliean Pacheco, Copy Editor.

It’s not just about spending time away from your devices, it’s also about improving your health. Spending time away from your devices has been known to give you present-moment awareness, improve your sleep, deepen your connections, and improve your productivity, and learning.

So put your phone down, walk away from your laptop, and enjoy the real world. We are waiting for you.
