What To Carry In Your Makeup Holiday Travel Bag

Running around your home, making sure you have every item in your bag before you leave for the holidays is a yearly event, I partake in. You want to make sure you have makeup options for those holiday photos, but you don’t want to travel with your whole kit.

Los Angeles based makeup artist Adria Rook sat down with Epifania to give her expert advice on what should be in your travel makeup bag. “We can all admit traveling can be very stressful during the holiday season! So how about let make sure it doesn’t show on your face. Cleansing the skin is the first step to best skin care practice,” shared Rook.

Rook suggests Dermalogica’s pre-cleanse. This pre-cleanse starts as an oil. You then wet your hands and wash your face, and it will become milky. It goes into your skin and gets rid of any impurities. “It’s my go-to face wash, and it is also a great makeup remover!” exclaimed Rook.

Now to achieve the best makeup look with hardly any effort, Rook advises that you need to use a primer such as Becca Ever-Matte Poreless primer. To her it’s like, “painting a house, you have to prime the wood to make sure the pant lasts for years.”

“If your pores are as large as mine, then adding makeup to oily skin is hard to keep on. I only use this primer around my t-zone, and it works amazing! The other primer I suggest is from Rihanna’s makeup line Fenty. It’s called the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer. It’s not heavy and just locks in the rest of your makeup, ” explains Rook.

As for a foundation and lipstick. Rook suggests the Super Stay by Maybelline.

“I’m in LOVE with the foundation. It is full coverage but it’s not too heavy, and you can build it up for even more coverage. The Super Stay matte lipstick line in the Super Stay is great if you don’t want to reapply lipstick every hour or worry about it coming off on that special someone that you kiss this holiday season,” shared Rook.

Rook’s mascara suggestion is the L’Oréal telescopic mascara. Even if you have short lashes, this mascara will give them that nice bold look with hardly any effort.

To set everything Rook to suggest the Nars All Day Luminous powder. She is a natural makeup type of woman and does not like the cake on makeup look.

“The great thing about all these products is you can have from light coverage to heavy for whatever situation you need this holiday season,” exclaims Rook.

As you travel, don’t forget these makeup pieces to make sure you can enjoy your holiday moments without worry about your makeup.
