Microdermabrasion or Chemical Peels With Adria Craig

This time of year we are so focused on other people and making them happy, but what about ourselves? Every once in awhile it’s good to treat ourselves. So this holiday season treat your skin with some love. Adria Craig our makeup consultant, suggests as a licensed esthetician a chemical peel or microdermabrasion.

“A microdermabrasion is best if you are wanting fast results. Microdermabrasion scrapes off the top two layers of dead skin,” shares Craig, “at all times we have 22-24 layers of dead skin.”

Microdermabrasion might be best if you also want products to penetrate your skin faster. Craig shares that if your skin is dry, light microdermabrasion with a moisturizing face mask, along with other serums should do the trick.

“Microdermabrasion isn’t suggested for people with severe acne, it can be too harsh. That’s when a chemical peel is best,” states Craig.

Chemical peels go deep into the layers of your skin and kill bacteria. There are many different types of chemical peels. Craig shares that if you want a very dramatic effect then instead of going to an esthetician you may want a medical spa to perform this service.

“Those peels literally make your face peel off like a snake. Chemical peels are also great for people who suffer discoloration,” shares Craig, “curtain chemical peels actually go under the skin and break up the myeloma or also known as dark spots under your skin.”

Craig who suffers from acne gets a chemical peel at least once a month to help. Now if you don’t think you can afford a facial for yourself from a spa there are things you can do at home to help. Serums are a great way to maintain great skin even when you can’t make it to the spa. They are designed to penetrate deep into the skin for whatever you are trying to achieve with your skin.

“The most popular serums lately are vitamin C,” shares Craig, “they are great for naturally brightening your skin, and over time break up dark spots as well.”

During this holiday season, don’t forget about yourself or your skin. As much as we all love doing things for other people take a moment to treat yourself to a wonderful spa experience and prep the skin for this winter season.
