Miami Swim Week Reminds You To Love Your Body By: Jasmine Perry

It’s sizzling hot this summer and I’m not just talking about the weather.

If you’re looking into traveling to Latin beaches such as Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, or Acapulco, you’ll want to pack your bags with some sexy swimsuits. Therefore, what’s better than a few pieces from Miami’s Swim Week 2021.

Miami Swim Week made fashion statements with many luxury and lifestyle brands; Honey Birdette and Nia Lynn — to name a couple. The two swimwear lines featured countered cutouts, signature fox medallions, gold eyelet details, bold prints, and neon colors.

It doesn’t matter if you’re Latinx and/or part of the LGBTQIA+ community, these swimwear lines don’t discriminate. Instead, they’ll keep you wanting more this summer. Honey Birdette made a spectacular performance at Swim Fashion Week with RuPaul’s Drag Race winners Aquaria, Violet Chachki, and Carmen Carrera.

Aquaria walked the runway in a leopard print and a red cutout one-piece, while Carmen rocked the runway in a blue cutout two-piece. Violet, on the other hand, worked the runway in Honey Birdette’s black lingerie collection.

The swimwear runway also featured a 1970s inspired swimwear line called Nia Lynn by model and entrepreneur Nicole Williams-English. The runway show had WWE’s Barbie Blank alongside other models wearing string bikinis, high-cut one-pieces, strapless bandeaux, as well as print and solid mesh cover-ups.

Although you may see young Latin celebrities such as Addison Rae or Cardi B wear these luxury brands. Don’t be fooled because these swimwear lines do not have an age range.

“I don’t think you can ever put an age on Honey Birdette. I always get asked ‘who’s your demographic?’ but I don’t actually believe in demographics anymore,” Honey Birdette founder Eloise Monaghan said. “The Honey Birdette customer can be an 82-year-old woman, a 17-year-old gay man, or a middle-aged transsexual. Our customers are so varied.”

According to Monaghan, the Los Angeles-based Honey Birdette boutique is expanding to Miami, New York, and Dallas by the end of this year. As for Nia Lynn, the swimwear collection launched on July 13, and you can start shopping it now at Nialynncollection.com.

Other swimwear line collections made their debut as well. Especially Latin swimwear lines manufactured in Columbia. For instance, Mar de Lua, Naranja Furcado, Bahama Mama, Smeralda, PQ Swim, Palmacea, Ancora, and Mola Mola.

Keep in mind summer ends in September. However, if you want to tan away on an island this Christmas, these swimwear lines are here to stay and you won’t be disappointed.
