How To Prevent Mask Created Breakouts By: Adria Craig
Masks have become commonplace in everyday life now. Most of the world is dealing with Covid-19 right now, and most cities and states have mandated that you have to wear a mask in public spaces. For me personally, I have been having major breaks when my mask sits. I know a lot of friends have asked me how to help with breakouts outside of the masks. So, here are some tips to control breakouts from face masks.
I wash my masks at least once a week. Oils can build up on the cloth of the masks that we wear. The longer you wear the mask, the longer it has touched your face and the more oils that build up. Also, if you’re wearing makeup, the makeup gets on your mask and then can irritate your skin.
Wearing a different mask every time helps. Whether that be the disposable masks or cloth masks. It’s best to have a different mask for every day of the week especially if you wear a mask for your job. Covid-19 is known to stay on surfaces for many hours. So if you wear a different mask every day, that gives time for the bacteria to die after wearing it or even throwing it in the wash. Different masks also help prevent the build-up of oils from your face being on your mask.
Washing your face is the next best way to help with breakouts. Once you’re no longer having to wear the mask for the day, wash your face. Washing will help kill bacteria and also rinse away dirt and oils from your face. You can also put acne spot treatment on your face for your problem areas. Having a good skin routine will help keep your skin clean.
I know these tips have helped me reduce the number of breakouts on my chin and jaw from my mask. It looks like we are going to have mask mandates for a while, so stay vigilant and don’t let the mask ruin your vibe.
