How To Create A Last Minute Halloween Costume By: Jasmine Perry
It’s a spooky season out there, and people have already bought their Halloween costumes for trick or treat or possibly heading to a Halloween party. However, we get so caught up with work, school, and family that we forget Halloween is creeping upon us.
Have you been unsure who to dress up as for Halloween? Are you undecided if you’re going to go anywhere? Could insufficient funds be the problem? Or are you debating spending lots of money on a costume that you’re only going to wear for one night?
If you’re looking to be creative and save money, these DIY costume ideas will send you in the right direction – which is your closet.
Dressing up as a cat or a witch is overrated. Instead, look through your wardrobe and find a few clothing pieces to create your Halloween costume from home.
Mickey or Minnie Mouse
Disney just celebrated its 50th anniversary, and many of you might own a pair of Mickey or Minnie Mouse ears which you can combine with a plain black shirt, red pants, or a red skirt. Everyone will know who you’re trying to be, as long as you’re wearing your Mickey or Minnie Mouse ears.
For preference, if you want to have Mickey or Minnie Mouse’s nose, you can try using black eyeliner or use a washable black marker to complete the look.
Entertainment Costumes
Have you heard or seen the show The Bachelorette? If so, this costume is easy to find in your closet. First, pick out a formal dress, or better yet, a formal gown and if you don’t have artificial roses, pick some from your garden or on your way to the Halloween party.
Ariana Grande is known to be easily impersonated, with her updo hair to her knee-high boots. However, you cannot say you can’t find her wardrobe in your closet. Find an oversized sweater and a pair of knee-high boots, and don’t forget the lip gloss and ponytail.
If you don’t have an oversized sweater, a skirt, a cropped tank, or a short dress will do.
Cowboy or Cowgirl
If you own a cowboy hat that you wear during the summer, you can pair it with a plaid shirt and jeans. If you have a pair of cowboy boots or even brown booties, that can complete the cowgirl look. An alternative to this costume, you can wear overalls.
Nerd
Here is another outfit where you can use that plaid shirt that has been sitting in your closet. If you own a pair of reading glasses and have high-waisted jeans or dress pants, pair them with some Converse shoes, and it’s a win-win.
The alternative to this, if you don’t own a plaid shirt, a button-up shirt or a sweater top can also work – especially if you have suspenders.
The Greaser Look
Do you own a black leather jacket? Maybe black leggings? If you said yes to both – congratulations. You are on your way to look like Sandy from the 1978 film Grease. This movie takes place in the 1950s, which makes this costume a lot more authentic.
For this Halloween costume, you’ll need a pair of pumps, a black or white tank top, and top it off with red lipstick.
Harley Quinn
If you’re looking for more of a frightening look, the DC comic villain Harley Quinn is an easy DIY costume idea as long as you have a Jersey-style or plain white t-shirt to rip, a black skirt, or black shorts. Then, all you’ll need is fishnet tights or one red and one black knee-high pair of socks.
You can also complete the Harley Quinn costume with the makeup look created by Epifania Beauty Video Creator Adria Craig. Don’t forget the pigtails!
Athlete Uniform
Play any sports? If you do, you can wear your uniform and add your accessories with it, such as a baseball bat, basketball, or a football. You could even wear your favorite team jersey alone.
For example, you can wear your football team jersey and add black eye paint on your face for a realistic football player outfit.
