New Year’s Resolution: Rebuilding Relationships

2016 was an odd year for me. It started off great and sort of exploded towards the end. Career and goal wise, things were positive; but, emotionally, it was difficult. I encountered a few negative people and negative relationships. It was draining on my soul. So 2017 I want to work on rebuilding my relationships. Here are my steps on rebuilding relationships.

Step 1: Evaluate The Relationship
Is the relationship necessary for your emotional well-being or is it an obligatory relationship?
Is this person worth your time?

Step 2: Evaluate Yourself
What did I do wrong?
Did I do anything wrong or was everything misinterpreted?
How would I better that person’s life?

Step 3: Apologize
Apologize for your actions, not your feelings. Your feelings are valid.
However, if the other person doesn’t apologize for their actions, time to cut them loose.

Step 3: Alone Time
Create some alone time between you and the other person.
However, if that person doesn’t live near, call them. Make time to talk to them.
Continue with the alone time.

Step 4: Invite Them To Group Events
Invite them to group outings. This shows you are willing to allow them back into the fold of your life.

Step 5: Let It Go
You have to let go of the negative feelings. The pain is there and will always be there. But letting go of the hurt and anger will help you two move forward.

Step 6: Evaluate The Relationship Again
Is the relationship necessary for your emotional well-being or is it an obligatory relationship?
Is this person worth your time?
May 2017 be there year of stronger relationships.

Hugs and Smiles,
