10 Latinx Artists To Watch For In 2021 By: Lupe Llerenas
A brand new year means discovering fresh new things. One of them being new music and looking back on 2020, we know it wasn’t the best year. However, there was so much new music that Latinx artists dropped left and right to keep us company during the quarantine. Everyone from Bad Bunny to Maluma, Anitta, Myke Towers, Becky G, and so many others.
Now that 2021 is here, keep your ear out for a whole new class of amazing artists. A few of them may already be on your radar, but these singers and rappers are set to make a lot more noise in 2021.
Here are 10 Latinx artists you need to watch for 2021.
Mariah Angeliq is a 21-year-old singer. Her pop/urban/R&B mix and fresh lyrics are fierce and full of girl power. Mariah was discovered at 16 by multi-platinum music producer Nely “El Arma Secreta”/Artillery Music. Thanks to the hit single “Perreito” in 2012, Mariah has been climbing up the charts.
Sky Rompiendo is also known as Sky Rompiendo El Bajo is one of the main producers of Latinx Reggaeton star J Balvin. He’s produced several of Balvin’s albums and most recently, Vibras in 2018 and Oasis alongside Bad Bunny and Balvin. Both albums peaked number 1 on the US Top Latin Albums Weekly Chart (Billboard). Lately, Sky has been producing a lot more of his music, which I think stands out a lot more.
Channeling the timeless charisma of Marilyn Monroe and the distinguished insight of a songwriter well beyond her years, Elena Rose is a sensitive and passionate storyteller. Embracing her creative diversity roots, Elena is also a beast behind the scenes. She has co-written hits for other Latinx artists like CNCO, Becky G, Rauw Alejandro, and more.

Jay Menez, was born in La Vega, Dominican Republic and is emerging as the new promise of Latinx urban music in his country. His vein as a composer and singer was born there and he adopts rhythms dominated by the genres hip hop, trap and reggaeton, being at this time his greatest inspiration, one of the great pioneers of the Daddy Yankee genre. His career of success begins with the single “La Cabaña,” which he had the honor of performing with Arcangel, his musical godfather, as Jay Menez calls him.
A natural-born entertainer, Venezuelan-American artist Lele Pons wears many hats: she’s an actress, singer, dancer, author, model, and creator. She rose to prominence with her online comedy, quickly becoming a digital superstar with the ability to connect with fans all over the world. Pons’ first single “Celoso,” went triple Platinum. In September 2020, the global star presented her hit “Se Te Nota” with Guaynaa, which continues to rise to the top.
Eladio Carrion
Before dedicating his life full-time to music, Eladio Carrion was a successful professional swimmer, a well-known comedian, and a social media influencer. His work as a songwriter and a performer has granted him the recognition of audiences all over Latin America, as well as the respect of Latinx urban music media due to hit songs such as “Mi Error,” “Kemba Walker Lluvia,” and “Miles.”
The buzz around New York/Chilean singer-songwriter, Paloma Mami, continues to grow due to the viral success of her single “Not Steady.” Paloma Mami has received the attention of Latinx powerhouses such as Maluma and J Balvin. With a delicate but powerful voice, her music is a distinct fusion of Latinx Urban, R&B, and Trap/Soul.
Jay Wheeler
Jay Wheeler is a Latinx urban singer from Puerto Rico. In November 2019 he released his first album “Platonico.” Last year, he released his second album “Platonicos” with various collaborations with other Latinx Reggaeton artists from Dalex, Brytiago, Myke Towers, Alex Rose, and more.
