Trying Fenty Beauty For The First Time By: Adria Craig

Happy birthday to the one and only Rhianna. Hey, I have the same birthday as her, so we are basically the same person. In honor of her birthday, I decided to review some product reviews on the pop star’s beauty brand, Fenty.

Fenty Beauty launched in September of 2017 and seen strong sales since its launch. The company’s influencer commercials on YouTube and Instagram are engaging. This month I tried Rhianna’s setting powder, her contour matchstick, foundation, and concealer. Some items worked well, but just like we all experience, some items didn’t.

Foundation:

Fenty Beauty has so many shades and that’s what Rhianna was known for when she first dropped her line. As a pale person, it’s hard to find a foundation that matches and does not make me look like a ghost. When finding your shade match it’s best to match your neck, not your face. Once I found my foundation and put it on, it felt very light. I then tried again and used my primer first before putting on the foundation. I wasn’t too happy with the coverage at the end. It’s supposed to be full coverage but for me, it just wasn’t enough.

Concealer:

Before I purchased the concealer, I read a lot of mixed reviews about it. However, I had high hopes that it would work amazingly. After I put on my foundation I started my contouring routine with the concealer. I started blending and it started to streak with the foundation. I found this to be odd because normally a brand’s products work best with each other. However, I gave it another shot with another one of my foundations and I had the same problem. Great coverage, it just didn’t blend well with either foundation.

Contour Matchstick:

I used the shade “mocha” because I didn’t want to get a shade that looked too orange on my face. After the concealer, I drew my lines and it glided on like butter. A little goes a long way with this product. It was super easy to blend with the Fenty Beauty foundation and my everyday foundation. It was just the right amount of darkness for my contouring.

Setting Powder:

Never have I felt a powder feel so light on my skin and smell amazing at the same time. I got the lightest shade and I baked my concealer and foundation. The powder didn’t give me a cake face as some powders can do. However, later in the day, my husband said my face looked a little orange. He was right, my powder oxidized and turned darker.

My favorite product was definitely the Matchstick. The foundation wasn’t my favorite however if you are looking for something that is lightweight and more like a CC cream, then give it a try. Rihanna’s products continue to grow and get better every single year. I personally cant wait to see what products she comes out with in the future.
